(Cleveland)- Following a late Friday afternoon weather briefing  with the National Weather Service White County Public Safety Director David Murphy advised that, significant snowfall is forecast for a line from Newnan to Decatur to Commerce and north.  According to Murphy, White County with the NEGA Mountain Counties are in the bullseye for the banding and potential for more than the forecasted 4-6” of snow.  Some areas can see up to and exceeding 8”.

Murphy said, the weather service  advised temperatures do not expect to get above freezing until next week, so driving conditions and refreezing will be a hazard through the weekend and into the first of next week.

Murphy said, in White County all agencies are ready to respond to any weather related issues. The White County Emergency Operation Center was activated at 7 PM Friday.

A Local State of Emergency is in effect.
