West Kytle Street in Cleveland, near Campbell Street shut down Monday night for accident investigation

(CLEVELAND) – A 19-year old female who was  injured  when she was struck by a vehicle in the city of Cleveland Monday night,  as she apparently was chasing after a dog near her home, has died.  White County Corner Ricky Barrett advised that the victim Cheyanna Norris of Campbell Street in Cleveland, passed away Tuesday morning at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

The Georgia State Patrol investigated the accident that happened around 7:04 p.m. on Georgia Highway 115 West near Campbell Street.

State Patrol Corporal Auston Allen said Norris was hit by a 1985 Chevrolet pickup that was traveling east on 115.  “She (Norris) did run across the roadway or attempt to, and as she crossed the roadway, ran into the path of the eastbound vehicle.”

Norris, who lived on Campbell Street, according to Barrett, was taken by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

“What she was doing, from witness accounts, was chasing a dog, trying to catch the dog,” Allen said.  The driver of the pickup will not face charges, according to Allen.

The incident shut down  that section of the highway  for about 90 minutes while officials investigated the accident.

Family and friends have set up a memorial fund account, to help pay funeral expenses, at United Community Bank in Cleveland.
