(GAINESVILLE)- The Northeastern part of the state is not expected to see much from  Hurricane Matthew,  but some local Georgia Department of Transportation employees are ready to respond  to areas hit by the storm.

GDOT spokeswoman Katie Strickland said,  a caravan of loaders, trailers and skilled equipment operators will be notified by 7:00 a.m. Saturday, October 8th if they are needed in the clean-up and relief efforts of Georgia’s coastal counties.

Strickland advised that  over 60 district one maintenance workers, including some from White County,  are prepared to stay to help out for five days.  A second team could be dispatched Sunday for additional support.

If our forces are needed, some local maintenance work may be postponed while efforts are focused on removing danger from roadways on the coast.
