(Cleveland)-  As part of a 4th of July event members of the Roy Head Post 16 American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary in Cleveland held special activities  Tuesday.

First, the American Legion lowered the  American flag that had been flying in front of the post home on Highway 75 south this past year and added it to a large stack of flags that were collected

Then  Cindy Teems, President of the local American Legion Ladies Auxiliary  dedicated a new  flower and brick garden located next to the flag pole and in front of the legion home  Teems said, “this garden is a special place created to honor our auxiliary members from the past, the present and hopefully in the future, to enjoy. We have names in our bricks and our members are all welcome to purchase a brick and have their names honored here in this garden.”

New flower beds around the legion home were dedicated in memory of fellow auxiliary member Sally Hudson.  A bench in the garden area was dedicated in memory of charter member Gladys Davidson.

In addition to the special ceremony,  hot dogs and watermelon were provided for those who help celebrate the special day.
