(Cleveland)- White County firefighters were dispatched to numerous fire calls over this past weekend.  White County Public Safety Spokeswoman Ana Newberry said one of those fires was on Possum Trot Road, in the eastern part of the county.

Newberry said the call came in at 10:30 PM  Saturday, January 19th several county fire units along with the city of Cleveland and Lee Arrendale Prison Fire Department responded.  Upon arrival, firefighters found a 60 ft. x 30 ft. building with heavy smoke showing out of a three-bay garage which the owner used as a personal storage facility advised Newberry in an email.

She said no one was in the building at the time but the owners, who lived across the street, stated they heard what appeared to be an explosion.  When they went outside, they could see the smoke coming from the rear of the building and called 911.

According to Newberry the building sustained heavy smoke/heat damage and two firefighters suffered minor injuries – they were treated on scene by White County Emergency Medical Service personnel.

Newberry said the cause of the blaze is under investigation.
