(Cleveland)- An Athens man faces several charges after a single vehicle accident Saturday night.  White County Sheriff’s Captain Rick Kelley said deputies responded to a single car  accident at the intersection of Hwy 284 and Westmoreland Road. The occupants of the vehicle had left the scene prior to the deputies arrival. 

With the help from some witnesses, the deputies located the occupants, including the driver  at a residence not far from the accident location, Kelley said.   He advised when the deputies located the occupants of the vehicle, they discovered that a female, who was a passenger, had serious injuries as a result of the accident and had to be transported by White County EMS to Northeast Georgia Medical Center. 

According to Kelley the injuries were non-life threatening. 

The driver identified by Kelley as  Joseph Robert Ingram was taken into custody and charged with DUI, open container, improper tires, failure to maintain lane, failure to report an accident, too fast for conditions, and serious injury by vehicle.
