AUGUSTA, Ga. | The Peach Belt Conference has announced that UNG’s
Connor Hoover has been named the AstroTurf Freshman of the Week.
Hoover hit .438 in four games for the Nighthawks, collecting at least one hit in all four games last week. The freshman from Appling, Ga., opened up with a 3-for-4 day and a pair of RBIs against Southern Wesleyan, then hit .333 in a three-game sweep of USC Aiken.
The North Georgia shortstop doubled in the first and last games of the series, driving in another run and scoring five times. He also had a stolen base and drew four walks for a .550 on-base percentage.
Hoover was also immaculate in the field, starting every game at shortstop with just one error in 23 total chances for a .957 fielding percentage. He is currently third in the PBC in assists, fifth in doubles and 10th in walks drawn.
