(Cleveland)- Following another positive financial report Monday by White County Finance Director Jodi Ligon, during this week’s county commission meeting Commission Chairman Travis Turner announced that the county budget hearing for next year will be presented on June 17th.
Turner said, “ in that budget based on the numbers we have received thus far we are looking at passing a budget that requires no millage increase,” sayings “ there is no reason for us to do so when we are seeing our numbers as strong as they are”.
Ligon shared in her report for the month of April that revenues were running at 95 percent while expenditures were at 79 percent.
Just because the millage rate stays the same does not mean that you will not have a tax increase. If property values increase(and we know that they are) then the same millage rate will generate much more tax revenue.
And the people paying that tax will be you the taxpayer.
