(Cleveland)-The National Drought Mitigation Center released the latest drought map for the state of Georgia Thursday and according to Local News Radio Weather Reporter Bill Kinsland the drought has intensified in the northern part of White County to a D-THREE LEVEL (“Severe Drought”.

As of 7 AM Thursday Kinsland said White County is showing a 4.72 inch rainfall deficit for the past 30 days.

Area Lakes and Rivers are down as well. The level for Lake Lanier at Buford Dam was 1063ft, down 7.95 feet from the normal 1071 level.

Here are the current river, lake, and ground-water levels as of 7 AM Thursday:
-LAKE LANIER AT BUFORD DAM:             1063.05 ft MSL, down 7.95 ft below normal of 1071 ft MSL.
-CHATTAHOOCHEE RIVER AT HELEN:          0.32 ft, down 0.68 ft below normal of 1.00 ft.
-CHATTAHOOCHEE RIVER AT DUNCAN BRIDGE:  1.35 ft, down 0.98 ft below normal of 2.33 ft.
-UNICOI WELL GROUND-WATER LEVEL:       -6.01 ft, down 1.69 ft below normal of -4.32 ft.
