(Cleveland)-The latest information from the National Weather Service, for White County, as another story System approaches is pointing to a low confidence in winter precipitation locations and amounts, but a very high with expected cold temperatures.
Don Strength, Deputy Emergency Management Agency Director for White County said Saturday afternoon that weather models are forecasting a significant winter storm across northern Mississippi, middle and southern southwest Tennessee, and extreme north Alabama (Winter Storm Watch) with some locations expecting up to 9” of snow.
But Strength said at this time, accumulating snow is not anticipated for most of White County. Accumulation may be possible in the highest elevations of the county.
Strength noted that this is subject to change as we get closer to this event.
The National Weather Service provided the following details about the next weather system for our area:
KEY MESSAGES:
- Snow accumulations could be a concern across far northern Georgia Monday into Tuesday.
- Hazardous cold will surge across the region on Tuesday evening, peaking on Wednesday morning.
- A second round of hazardous cold will be possible next weekend.
IMPACTS:
