(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) – The No. 3 Piedmont women’s lacrosse team lost in the USA Semifinals to No. 2 Meredith on Thursday night by a score of 18-6.
It was all Avenging Angels from the opening whistle as the Piedmont defense struggled to stop the onslaught in the first. By the time the period came to a close, Meredith had jumped out to a 10-0 lead.
The Lions finally got on the board in the second period as Savannah Limehouse and Lindley Ward posted back-to-back goals. However, the Meredith offense continued to score, taking a double digit lead into half time.
Trailing 12-2 out of the break, opening goals from Laura Crone and Lovette Choloh cut the deficit to eight before they were quickly answered by the Avenging Angels. With a ten goal lead heading in the final period of play, Meredith added late insurance goals to close out their 18-6 win.
