(Cleveland)– The White County Warriors fell to the Rabun County Wildcats in last Friday night’s season opener of High School Football Play, 40 to 27.

The game win may have gone to the Wildcats but with an almost two-hour-long lightning delay, the longest part of the game went to Mother Nature.

The first quarter belonged to the Wildcats, outscoring the Warriors 21 to 7, with Tripp Nix making the only White County touchdown. The second quarter saw many great plays by the Warriors and two more White County touchdowns, but the Wildcats put up two more of their own bringing the almost two-and-a-half-long quarter to an end with a halftime score of 34 to 21 Wildcats.

The Wildcats made the only score of the third quarter, extending their lead to 40, and Warrior quarterback Tripp Nix would suffer a shoulder injury before the end of the quarter.

With the final quarter starting well after 11pm, the gameplay slowed somewhat. The Warriors were able to put up one more touchdown before the game ended. This brought the final score to 40 to 27, Rabun County.

The Captain D’s players of the game were Tripp Nix and JJ Deck. The next game will be an away game on August 30th against Habersham Central.
