GREENWOOD, S.C. | Lander’s J.R. Washington netted a game-high 30 points and led four Bearcats in double figures Saturday afternoon as LU defeated the UNG men’s basketball team 97-84 in Peach Belt Conference action in Horne Arena.

Juan Rivas posted a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Nighthawks. Tanner Piemmons added 17 points, T.J. Williams 15 points, and Roderick English 12 points. Ebo Smith chipped in a game-high seven assists.

North Georgia falls to 4-17 overall and 2-10 in the PBC, while Lander improves to 16-5 and 10-2 in league.

NOTES
– Tobiasz Hoseadded 19 points, six rebounds and five assists, while Rahu Purdie had 11 points, and Sergio Smith10.

– Plemmons connected on 4-of-9 shots from 3-point land and rounded out his scoring with a free throw.

– Rivas’ double-double was his eighth of the season and marked the 17th time the sophomore forward has scored in double figures.

– English’s 12 points set a new career high for the freshman guard and was fueled by a pair of 3-point baskets.

– The loss is the ninth consecutive for the Nighthawks.
