(Cleveland)- Even though the precipitation has ended over Northeast Georgia, Weather forecasters and local
officials warn of black ice will still cause travel difficulties as temperatures remain below freezing throughout Sunday morning.
You are urged to use extreme caution on roads especially secondary and less traveled roads and those with shady spots.
Here in White County our Public Works Department was able to keep up with the snow and ice that accumulated
Friday night and Saturday as it affected the major roads in the county.  Dave Canjemi  Public Works Director for
White County said in an email Saturday, “  Our team covered approximately 85% of the roads in White County
either checking or spreading material on them. We were also able to keep up with all the calls that came in through
 911 and concerned residents.”
The Public works crew was just one of the many teams from the fire department, law enforcement, and
medical personnel who planned ahead and was ready to deal with the storm.
In addition to the Black Ice warning for our area, the National Weather Service also advises of another
danger, dangerously low wind chills.  Forecasters say with our temperatures in the teen and any wind will
provide very low wind chills, so the weather service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory that is in effect until
noon Sunday across north Georgia, north of a line from Franklin to Morrow to Homer.

Wind chill readings ranging between 10 below to five above are likely through late morning. Frost bite and hypothermia  could
result if proper precautions are not taken to protect exposed skin.
