(Gainesville)- The American Red Cross continues to work to restock critically needed blood products uncollected due to the ongoing impact of Hurricane Helene’s devastation in the Southeast. Donors outside of affected areas are encouraged to make an appointment to give now and help keep the blood supply stable in the weeks to come.

Red Cross officials say since making landfall, the storm and its aftermath have led to the cancellation of more than 100 blood drives, causing thousands of blood and platelet donations to go uncollected.

Those wishing to help Red Cross has several Blood Drives scheduled in the area; October 23, in Clarkesville from 11 AM until 3 PM at North Georgia Technical College On October 29 at Piedmont University from 12 noon until 5 PM. In Dahlonega on October 23, from 12 noon until 4 PM at Lumpkin County Parks and Recreation.  And in Cleveland on October 24, from 10 AM until 3 PM at Cleveland First Baptist Church.

To find other blood drives call 1-800-Red Cross. As the Red Cross continues to urge people to give blood or platelets now, Red Cross officials say their teams are also on the ground providing vital relief − like food, water, shelter, and support − in communities devastated by Hurricane Helene.
