Carole Hollis Justus, age 82, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2024, after a brief illness.

Carole is preceded in death by her parents Joe and Meryl Hollis; brother (LTC, Ret.) Joe Hollis Jr.; her favorite and only brother-in-law, (CPT) R.C. (Chris) Baker; as well as her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her sister, Susan Hollis Baker, of Clarkston, Georgia.

Carole was proudly raised in Dahlonega. After graduation from LCHS in 1959, she started her career as a secretary at Camp Glisson Methodist Youth Camp, followed by several years at AJC Newspaper in Atlanta, Georgia. After moving to Gainesville, she worked at Chicopee Mills and finally at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, a job she truly loved.

She loved nature, our mountains, birds, and all other creatures that inhabit our area. She also loved collecting feathers, rocks, small stones, twigs, and all things from nature. She was charming, funny, and loved.

A graveside service will be held at Dahlonega Memorial Park at a later date. In lieu of flowers, her sister, Susan, kindly request that donations be made to an Animal Rescue Shelter of your choice.
