(Clarkesville)-  North Georgia Technical College instructor Charles Hill of Cleveland has  been awarded the Rick Perkins Award.  Each year faculty and staff at North Georgia Technical College nominate  instructors who exemplify excellence in teaching.

The nominees participate in a series of interviews which help determine the winner. The instructor chosen to receive the award will go on to represent the college at the Technical College System of Georgia  for the Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Education competition in the spring.  

Hill is  Emergency Medical Services Program Director and Instructor.  Hill has been involved in emergency medical services throughout his career, even while on active duty with the US Navy. Acquiring credentials including Fire Fighter and Emergency Medical Technician certification and the Paramedic Diploma from North Georgia Tech, he completed a BA in Communications from Ashford University in 2011. Charles has been employed with NGTC since 2012. 

He received a plaque and was presented with a cash prize made possible by donations from the Blairsville/Union County Rotary Club and the Clarkesville Kiwanis Club.  

After receiving the award  Hill said, “I’m proud and excited to represent our college in the regional and state competition to show the rest of the state the caliber of instruction we provide here in the mountains.”
