COLUMBUS, Ga. | Sean Brennan and Ebo Smith combined to score 42 points for the University of North Georgia men’s basketball team, but Columbus State used a second half rally to pull away for an 89-75 Peach Belt Conference win on Saturday afternoon in CSU’s Lumpkin Center.

Brennan tallied a game-high 24 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the floor, while Smith added 18 including three 3-pointers and a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line.

The game was tied at 35 apiece at halftime, but CSU scored the first points of the second half and never looked back.

North Georgia falls to 6-21 overall and 4-14 in PBC play while CSU improves to 19-6, 13-5 PBC.

NOTES
– Brennan added a game-best six assists for the Nighthawks.

Michael Varrichione missed a double-double by a single point with nine points and a game-high 10 rebounds. With his fourth point of the day, the senior forward crested the 500-point career point plateau.

– Brent Jackson led four Columbus State players in double figures with 17 points, fueled by 3-of-6 from 3-point land.

– UNG was hindered by a 12-of-21 (57%) effort from the free throw line.
