Dorothy Faye Abernathy, age 78, of Dahlonega, GA passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016, at her home

following an extended illness.

Faye was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. She was a homemaker and was a member of

Hightower Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.

Faye was the daughter of the late James Barney Rider and Mary Roxanne Sanford Rider and was also preceded

in death by her husband, Henry Abernathy; an infant sister, Cora Lee Rider; son-in-law, Bishop Raymond

Wood; daughter-in-law, Ann Abernathy; and brother-in-law, Francis Satterfield.

Faye is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie Abernathy, Dahlonega, GA, Stanley and Penny

Abernathy, Dahlonega, GA, Jeff and Melba Abernathy, Dahlonega, GA, Bobby and Linda Abernathy, Mt. Airy,

GA; daughters and son-in-law, Pam Wood, Dahlonega, GA, Tammy Abernathy, Dahlonega, GA, Lorie and

Paul Samples, Madisonville, TN, and Patsy Turner, Eastanollee, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Luther and

Patsy Rider, Dahlonega, GA; sister, Callie Satterfield, Dahlonega, GA; grandchildren, Josh, Julianne, Marie,

Ethan, Adrianna, Bobby, Michelle, Patricia, Hazel, Bo, Shane, and Angie; great-grandchildren, Jesse, Jacob,

Jade, Josie, Kaleb, Logan, Rowan, and Bella. Numerous other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Faye are scheduled for 1 PM Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at the Banister Funeral Home

Chapel in Dahlonega, GA.

Rev. Terry Fields will officiate and Mr. Marvin Martin will deliver the eulogy.

Interment will follow in the Hightower Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega, GA on Sunday, January 24, 2016 from

6 PM until 9 PM, all day on Monday, and again on Tuesday from 10 AM until 1 PM.
