JACKSONVILLE, Ala. | Senior Brittany Truitt set a new personal record in a 5K with a 18:12.5 to finish fourth individually among a field of 165, while helping pace the University of North Georgia cross country team to a second place finish in the White Division at the Jacksonville State Foothill Invitational. The team time of 1:34:27 is the best for North Georgia this season in a 5K.

Truitt’s time was the second best in a 5K in school history.

Jenna Tilton posted a personal best as well, posting a 18:53.8, good enough for eighth in the White Division individuals.Emma Brown and Makayla Ellis joined in on the PR fun finishing 12th and 13th, respectively in the division. Brown ran a 19:00.3, while Ellis was just a few steps behind at 19:01.6.

Caitlin Connell bested her previous personal record in a 5K by over a second finishing fifth among the UNG runners at 19:19.5, to round out the North Georgia scoring group.

The Nighthawks will have a quick turnaround traveling to Tallahassee, Florida to partake in the Florida State Invitational on Friday, Oct. 7. The race is set to begin at 7:40 a.m.
