(Cleveland)- The National Weather Service has posted a Flood Watch that is in effect starting today until Friday evening Portions of north central Georgia and northeast Georgia, including White, Hall, and Lumpkin counties.

National Weather Service forecasters say excessive rainfall and resulting runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Recent heavy rainfall of 2 to 4 plus inches over the last 48 hours has saturated topsoils and elevated stream flows, with some river flooding already observed. Steady moisture flow and consistent showers and storms over the next few days will add to the potential threat.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings.

Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
