The Folk Pottery Museum of Northeast Georgia will hold its 16th annual Folk Pottery Show & Arts Festival on the grounds of the Sautee Nacoochee Center August 31.

During the festival, Northeast Georgia folk potters will be set up in the Historic Gym where attendees will be able to observe and purchase pieces they created. Visitors will be able to cast their vote for their favorite piece made by a local folk potter.

Heritage art vendors will also display and sell their wares on the lawn of the SNC campus.  Attendees will also have the chance to enter in the museum’s fundraising  raffle, where winners will receive pieces created by local potters.

Those attending the event will also be given the opportunity to visit the Heritage Site and the Cultural Center, located on the SNC campus. The Heritage Site features a restored 1850s cabin from the northeast Georgia mountains and a blacksmith shop built on site. Both will be staffed with a blacksmith demonstrating on an open forge. In the Cultural Center, festivalgoers may visit two gallery shops, which feature the work of artists in a variety of media who live within fifty miles. The show in the gallery shops and invitational gallery is entitled Glamour in the Galleries which will feature the work of the Chestatee Artists group.

Food vendors and live music will also be present.

The festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the museum’s location. For more information visit www.folkpotterymuseum.com
