Forensic artist’s rendering of the deceased hiker (GBI)

(Cleveland )- The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is requesting assistance from the public in identifying a deceased male believed to be a hiker on Springer Mountain found on January 21 this year.

The man was found specifically off the Benton MacKaye Trail, which is part of the Appalachian Trail in Fannin County. 

Officials are not saying who found the man or how he died.

Kim Williams Special Agent in Charge of the GBI’s Cleveland office said, “This is all the information we can release at this time.”

A forensic artist created a rendering of the man. He was wearing a small gray t-shirt, a gray fleece long sleeve shirt, size 30 X 32 tan Wrangler brand cargo pants, gray wool boot socks, and size 10.5 Keen brand hiking boots.
