11/4/14

vote(Cleveland)- It’s finally election day around the country, state and here in White County.  All precincts in the county will be open for you to vote today.   White County Election Superintendent Garrison Baker said Monday  there was a good turnout of early voters casting ballots and those returning absentee ballots.

According to Baker just short of 2,800  ballots have been cast and he sees that translating into a good turnout today.   There are no local  contested races on the ballot, but Baker said the widely publicized governor and Senate races as well as a couple of local issues will draw voters to the polls. Those issues are land use  and education tax exempt for  those 70 and over, with some restrictions.  Study the sample ballot and know what you will be voting on.   Polls remain open until 7 PM the evening.

City residents are reminded that you will be voting on the three alcohol sales question today,  at First Baptist Church.

Following the tabulation of the votes in both the county and city elections we will provide you with an report of the vote count here.  It could be after 9 PM before results are available.  Check back here for an update.
