(Clarkesville)- Approximately 1,000 members and guests attended Habersham EMC’s 86th Annual Meeting on Thursday at the cooperative’s headquarters in Clarkesville. The event featured a barbecue meal and various demonstrations, including hurt man rescue, high voltage, sky trim, and fiber splicing.

Growth and Revenue
HEMC President and CEO Bryan Ferguson reported that HEMC remains member-focused and that the cooperative saw significant growth in 2023, with the addition of 552 meters, 450 members, and 23 new miles of line. The cooperative’s revenue composition was approximately 76% from residential services, 16% from commercial services, and 8% from other services.

Customer Satisfaction Award
Ferguson announced that HEMC received the 2023 Customer Satisfaction Award for Co-op Utilities from The American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), ranking in the top 25% of electric cooperatives based on member survey results. This recognition shows the importance of focusing on our members. Notably, HEMC also received this award again for 2024.

Board of Directors Election
During the meeting, David Foster, Jeff Herrin, and Kenneth McEntire were elected to the Board of Directors. Following the Business Session, the Board met and elected the following officers:

Bill Cantrell, Vice-Chairman
Kenneth McEntire, Secretary-Treasurer

Door Prize Drawings
All members who registered to vote in the Board of Directors election were entered into door prize drawings, including a $500 cash grand prize. Mandy Wade of Cornelia was the winner of this year’s grand prize.
