(Cleveland)-White County Schools has received two special donations that will benefit White County students.

During Thursday’s regular meeting of the White County Board of Education Tommy Thurmond as Vice President, Member, and Community Relations with Habersham EMC address the board and said, “ one of the key tenence  of our existence is giving back to the community that we get to live, work and go to school in”  

Thurmond said he was happy, on behalf of his company, to award $15,000 to White County School System and $4,000 to White County High School’s  Warrior TV.

Under Georgia law electric cooperatives, such as HEMC, are allowed to use capital credits that go unclaimed for five years to fund education, economic development, and 501(c)3 charitable organizations in their service area.
