The Third-annual Dropping of the Edelweiss will be held Thursday, Dec. 31, at the Festhalle in Helen. Doors open at 8 p.m.
(HELEN) – Alpine Helen is preparing to ring in 2016 in German style.
The Helen Chamber will host its New Year’s Eve Celebration and Third-annual Dropping of the Edelweiss Thursday, Dec. 31, at the Festhalle along the Chattahoochee River.
Heavy rains and a swollen river won’t stop the celebration, according to Renee Chacon of the Helen Chamber of Commerce.
An Edelweiss is a European plant with wooly white flowers and greyish-green leaves.
Doors to the family-friendly event open at 8 p.m.
The event will feature live music by Dan Witucki, dancing, fun and light hors d’oeuvres. There will be a champagne toast at midnight, and a full cash bar throughout the event.
Admission is $15 per person or $25 per couple. Children ages 6-12 are admitted half price, and children under 6 are free.
