Local – One person escaped injury following an early morning residential fire in southern White County Saturday morning.

According to a news release from White County Public Information Officer Bryce Barrett, shortly before 5:00 am on Saturday, White County 911 Communications dispatched Cleveland Fire Department to serve as Automatic Aid for White County Fire Station 4, who was working a medical-related incident.  Original reports stated smoke in the area of Bayberry Lane and Skitts Mountain Road.

First arriving units reported a manufactured home, fully involved with fire. Emergency Responders made contact with the sole occupant of the home and confirmed that everyone had escaped the blaze. Firefighters promptly made an attack to fight the structure fire as well as the fire that had spread to nearby vegetation.

White County Fire Service, Cleveland Fire Department, White County EMS, White County Emergency Management, and White County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the area.

White County Emergency Management’s (Drone) responded to the scene and provided overwatch to fire personnel. White County CERT’s Rehab Unit responded to the scene providing rehabilitation to firefighters in recovery.

The home was already a total loss at the time of arrival, and the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time and under investigation by the Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office.
