(Cleveland)- Hurricane Helene has already started affecting northeast Georgia activities. Schools in the area have canceled classes for the remainder of the week.

Barbara Overton has announced that the White County Senior Center will be closed on Friday and no home-delivered meals will be made on Friday. The Senior Center’s indoor yard sale is scheduled for Saturday from 9 AM until 1 PM, it’s still on but a decision about the event will be announced Friday.

The White County Board of Education’s regular scheduled meeting for tonight at 6 PM has been rescheduled for 5 PM Monday, September 30th.

The City of Cleveland Planning and Zoning Board scheduled meeting and public hearing for tonight (Thursday) at 6:30 PM has been canceled.

Kayla Elllis, with the White County Chamber of Commerce, has announced that they are monitoring the incoming storm, but as of right now Agrifest at Freedom Park in Cleveland will go on as scheduled Saturday from 9 AM until 3 PM.

BabyLand General Hospital will be closed on Friday, September 27, due to Hurricane Helene.

In addition to all classes and activities being canceled for the remainder of the week at Truett McConnell College, spokesperson Madison Wyatt advised dining services will be closed to the public through the weekend.

Susan Baker, President of the White County Historical Society advises that the Scheduled Taste of History event, scheduled for Saturday, September 28  will be held at Cleveland First Baptist Church.  In fact Baker said four last-minute tickets have just become available for the event. White County High School football game scheduled for Friday, September 27 has been rescheduled for Monday, September 30 at 7 PM.
