DAHLONEGA | Cierra Jackson scored her 1,000th career point as the University of North Georgia women’s basketball team clinched a spot in the Peach Belt Conference tournament with a 69-56 win over USC Aiken Wednesday night in UNG’s Memorial Hall.

After being held scoreless in the first half, Jackson scored 12 points in the second half, capped by a free throw with 35 seconds left in the contest to net point number 1,000.

USC Aiken led 5-0 in the first two minutes before the Nighthawks went on a 12-2 run to take the lead for good.

NOTES
– With the win, North Georgia improves to 17-9 and 9-8 in conference play. They are guaranteed at least fourth place in the West Division of the Peach Belt. USC Aiken falls to 9-17 and 4-13 in the Peach Belt with the loss.

Kelsey Hutchins notched her 24th game in a row in double figures with a game-high 23 points. She was 8-of-16 from the field and 2-of-4 from behind the arc.

Molly Rainwater hit four three-pointers on her way to 14 points. Jackson finished the night with her 16th double-double of the year as she pulled down 16 rebounds to go with her 12 points.

– North Georgia finished with 18 assists on 21 made baskets. Kaylee Akin had seven assists, increasing her total this season to 82. She is tied for ninth in the conference in the category.

– Alexis Ware, Kassy Johannsen and Kate Duff finished with 11 points to lead the Pacers.
