Jacob Ivey, Cleveland, Northeast Georgia’s 2015 Congressional Art Competition winner.

(GAINESVILLE) — At a reception at his Gainesville office last  Thursday, Congressman Doug Collins announced that Jacob Ivey of White County is Northeast Georgia’s 2015 Congressional Art Competition winner.

The third annual contest took place across Ninth District high schools. Ivey’s pencil drawing “Late Date” will hang in the U.S. Capitol. Ivey is home-schooled. Rep. Collins, representing Georgia’s Ninth District, congratulated him and two more finalists – Hall County’s Hannah Smith of North Hall High School and Hayes Kennedy of Lakeview Academy.

“Jacob’s portrayal of an elderly couple spending quality time together touched my heart,” said Rep. Collins. “His piece and the others show how much our Ninth District has to offer and the reward of hard work. I’m excited to see more from these young artists.”

Congressional Art Competition is a nationwide high school arts competition that the U.S. House of Representatives sponsors every year.
