Laverne Ward Loudermilk, age 92, of Cornelia, Georgia went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 13, 2024.

Mrs. Loudermilk was born on August 19, 1932 in Banks County, Georgia to the late Broughton B. and Bessie Martin Ward. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 73 years, Paul Efford Loudermilk; grandson, Nick Loudermilk; son-in-law, Ronald Blackburn; sisters, Geraldine Ward Davis, Glenda Gale Hannas; and a brother, Troy Ward. Mrs. Loudermilk was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Loudermilk was the oldest living member of the Cornelia Christian Church. Laverne dedicated 36 years of her life to Scovill Manufacturing before retiring. Beyond her professional achievements, she had a deep passion for sewing and was an exceptional seamstress. For many years, she lovingly created her own clothing as well as her daughter’s wedding dress, showcasing both her talent and creativity. Above all, Laverne was a devoted to her family. As a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, she brought warmth and joy to all who knew her. Her family affectionately called her “Nana,” a testament to the love and care she showered upon them throughout her life.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Blackburn, of Cornelia; grandchildren and their spouses, Jason and Michelle Blackburn, of Alto; Bart and Carisa Blackburn, of Alto; great-grandchildren, Austin Blackburn, Madison Blackburn, Caleb Blackburn, Brooke Blackburn, all of Alto; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Mr. Jason Blackburn officiating and Mr. Bart Blackburn, Ms. Madison Blackburn, Mr. Caleb Blackburn, and Ms. Brooke Blackburn speaking. Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens with Pastor Greg Miller officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at the funeral home.
