(Cleveland)- Today, Friday, August 23, is the last day on the job for White County Fire Services Division Chief Mike Lefevre who is retiring after 25 years of fire service work. Lefevre has served seven of those years with White, the last two as fire division chief.

White County public safety officials held a reception for Lefevre Thursday. Public Safety Director David Murphy said of Lefevre, “Anything is not easy when you set out but I tell you he has done it with class even in the most difficult times he has really come forth and portrayed the image of a fire chief and leader that I expect.”

LeFevre has served as a part-time firefighter and quartermaster for White County beginning in 2017. He became fire chief in 2022.

Lefevre told those who stopped by,” It’s kinda sad for me because 25 years later tomorrow, an era of my life will end and that’s being a firefighter.” Chief Lefevere said he can still put firefighting gear on and go in a fire he found that out last Saturday on a fire call. He said,” I guess it’s time to sit down and sit back and let these other guys do it.”

Lefevre plans to spend more time with his wife, children, and grandchildren and he is excited to spend more time playing music in his Christian music group, the LeFevre Quartet.
