Leroy Turner, age 81, of Dawsonville, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024. Born in Dahlonega, Georgia on September 27, 1942, to the late Rev. Egbert Turner and the late Viola Tatum Turner, Leroy was known for his deep love and unwavering protection of those around him. A true family man, he raised many children who were not biologically his, always willing to help with money for bills, food for the table, work during slow times, and shelter when needed. He was a self employed truck driver and loved anything with a motor, especially race cars.

In addition to his parents, Leroy was preceded in death by his beloved spouse of 53 years, Tammy “Tamer” Turner; his son David Turner; and siblings Carl Turner, Dorsey Turner, Hassle Turner, Hoyt Turner, and Lois Turner.

Leroy is survived by his children, Becky (Richard) Sheets of Fairmount, Joe (Barbara) Turner of Nicholsville, Tina Evertt (Gene Hunter) of Jefferson, Cindy (Ronnie) Hughes of Fairmount, Leigh Turner Worley of Dawsonville, Mary Ann Beck of Jefferson, and Shane (Alana) Turner of Dawsonville. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, in the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Ray officiating. Interment will follow in Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
