Army Basic Training

(Undated)-  Joint Hometown News Service reports several recent White County High School graduates   have joined the United States Army under the Delayed Enlistment Program.  The program allows new recruits to delay reporting for basic military training for up to 270 days while they finish their educations and prepare for their military careers. 

The recruits, all 2016 White County High School graduates, include:  Haliegh Cooper the daughter of Christopher and Keri Cooper of Cleveland;   Jacob Haney  the  son of Linda Haney of Cleveland;  Jose Francisco,  he is the son of Juana Andres and Jose Miguel of Cleveland;  Jacob Rosenthn,  the son of Meachel and Cyndi Rosenthn of Cleveland; Nick Palmer,  the son of David and Kim King of Cleveland and Michael Spurgreon  the son of James Spurgeon of Cleveland,  and Starr Perry of Clarksville.    

As a recruit, these soldiers will have many options available to learn new skills while serving our country and will become eligible to receive more than $37,440 toward a college education and $50,000 for repayment of qualifying college loans. 

After completion of basic military training, the soldier may receive advanced individual training in a career job specialty prior to being assigned to a permanent duty station.
