White County Public Safety Director David Murphy announces new ISO ratings for the county

(Cleveland)- White County  homeowners could see a nice reduction in their  insurance rates following the approval of lower fire protection classification in the county.  White County Public Safety Director David Murphy reported to the White County Commissioners Monday that the Insurance Service Office ( ISO) has completed its analysis of the structural fire suppression delivery system for White County Fire Services.

Murphy said, as a result,  “the current rating will change from a class 6/6X to a class 4/4Y, effective July first this year. “  Murphy said, there are some requirements in order for you to take advantage of the lower rating.  Your property must be within five road miles of one of the county’s six fire stations and within 1,000 feet of a fire hydrant or  a credited alternative water source located  within 1,000 feet of your property, you can receive a Class 4 Fire Protection rating.

According to Murphy this could result in substantial savings on your insurance premiums, but you might have to do some work on your part.  He said, “If you do not see anything or hear anything from your agent it would be worth a call to find out what the status is, but it usually happens at renewal.”

Murphy said,  I want to express my sincere appreciation for the hard work accomplished by our firefighters, our water authority and to my staff for compiling the data, competing the training and building out infrastructure in order to accomplish this new rating.
