10-1-16

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. | The University of North Georgia men’s soccer team struggled to find offensive production inSaturday afternoon’s match at Flagler as the Nighthawks fell, 3-1. UNG slips to 5-6 on the season with a 2-1 mark in the Peach Belt Conference.

Oscar Davidsson scored the only goal of the first half for the Saints in the 15th minute, scoring off a Juan Membreno corner kick. Graham Grassmyer extended the Flagler lead in the 54th scoring his first goal of the season.

The match seemed to slip away in the 61st minute as an own goal off the UNG defense pushed the FC lead to 3-0.

The Nighthawks refused to go away quietly however, denying the Saints of the shutout as Daniel Joyce found the back of the net in the 90th minute to give the match its final 3-1 score.

UNG will wrap up the two-match road swing on Wednesday, Oct. 5, with a trip to Lander to take on the first-place Bearcats. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
