(Helen)- White County 911 Communications dispatched units from White County Fire Services, Helen Fire Department, and White County EMS to an area along Unicoi Bottoms Drive in reference to a Mountain Rescue inside Unicoi State Park.
Initial dispatch at 5:38 PM stated that an individual had fallen while running along the trails.
White County Public Safety Spokesperson Bryce Barrett said the individual was a participant in a cross-country event taking place at Unicoi State Park. He said, “Once on scene, a team comprised of EMS and Fire personnel entered the trail. Within four minutes of entering the trail, patient contact was made.” The patient was evaluated and removed from the trail with the assistance of an all-terrain vehicle assisted by first responders and their coach.
The patient was treated and then transported by White County EMS to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
