Nathan William “Nate” Marple, age 71 of Mt. Airy, Georgia passed away on Monday, September 24, 2018.

Born in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania on February 22, 1947, he was a son of the late Nathan Marple Sr. & Anna Nancy McGowan Marple. Nate served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He owned and operated The Produce Patch for over 23 years, served as a contractor with the U.S. Government, and retired as a Supervisor with the Collier County Parks & Recreation Department in Naples Florida. Nate was an active member of the Grant Reeves VFW Post # 7720, American Legion Post # 84, and served as Commander /Service Officer for the Rabun County Disabled American Veterans Chapter # 15. In his role, Nate was able to advocate for numerous Veterans, helping them to receive their entitled benefits. He was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church in Clarkesville.

Survivors include his loving wife, Shirley Fry Marple of Mt. Airy, GA; stepdaughters & husbands, Wendy & Jason Ostby of Denver, CO; April & Freddie Beamon of Dahlonega, GA; Christi Whitfield of Mt. Airy, GA; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; other extended relatives, & friends.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 27, 2018 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with Dr. Kenneth Franklin & Rev. Ronnie Powell officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Rabun County Disabled American Veterans Chapter # 15 @ 180 Wilkerson Lane, Lakemont, GA. 30552
