FLORENCE, S.C. | The No. 22 University of North Georgia men’s tennis team won the back draw of the 2016 Peach Belt Conference Tournament on Sunday afternoon with a 5-1 victory over Francis Marion at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center. The fifth-place tournament finish is a new program-best for the Nighthawks.

After winning two of three doubles matches, fifth-seeded North Georgia made quick work of the sixth-seeded Patriots in singles action with straight set victories in the second, fourth and six lines.

Hugues Renald clinched the win for UNG with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 4 singles.

North Georgia now stands at 17-7 overall, as the 17 victories setting a new school record for single season wins. Francis Marion falls to 15-9.

The Nighthawks will now await the selection of the NCAA Southeast Regional field, with the announcement set forTuesday, May 3 at 8:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.
