(DAHLONEGA) – The University of North Georgia women’s basketball team erupted for 60 first half points en route to a commanding 103-38 Peach Belt Conference victory over USC Beaufort on Saturday afternoon at Lynn Cottrell Arena at the UNG Convocation Center.

The win snapped a two-game slide as North Georgia improves to 11-5 overall and 4-2 in Peach Belt Conference action.

Ansley Hall set a new program record with 15 assists. The previous 27-year old record was set on three occasions, last in 1996. Hall’s 15 assists is also a NCAA Division II single game high this season.

Kaylee Sticker and Emily Trushel each scored 22 points to lead all scorers. The duo combined to make 9-of-11 (82%) of shots from behind the three-point line. Livi Blackstock came off the bench to round out UNG’s double figure scorers with 16.

In addition to her 15 assists, Hall added nine points and a game-high seven rebounds.

Trushel’s layup under three minutes into the game marked her 1,000th career point.

North Georgia scored the game’s first nine points and never looked back. After outscoring USCB 24-12 in the first quarter, the Nighthawks exploded for 38 second quarter points to take a 43-point advantage (62-19) into halftime. The Nighthawks connected on all but one shot (14-of-15) from the field in the quarter including 7-of-8 from behind the three-point line.

USCB was led by Brielle Bartlet’s 11 points. The loss is the sixth straight for USC Beaufort as the Sand Sharks fall to 4-10, 0-6 PBC on the year.

The game was Lumpkin County Park and Rec Night as all local youth basketball players in the county’s recreation system were recognized at halftime.
