1/6/17

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Senior forward Kelsay Hutchins collected her second consecutive double-double as the No. 17 University of North Georgia women’s basketball team picked up a hard-fought 66-62 victory at Armstrong State Fridayafternoon. The Nighthawks improve to 12-1 on the season and stay perfect in Peach Belt Conference play at 4-0.

The game was tightly contested through the first 11 minutes of action but an Amber Skidgel three-pointer sparked a 9-0 run for North Georgia early in the second quarter that proved to be the difference in the game. The Nighthawks would extend their lead to as many as 13 points in the third quarter as a Hutchins layup put UNG ahead 42-29, but the Pirates put together a 9-0 run of their own to pull the game back within two possessions at the 2:57 mark in the third quarter.

North Georgia would go on to extend its lead back to double digits briefly in the fourth quarter before Armstrong State worked their way back with the unsuccessful comeback attempt.
