(DAHLONEGA) – The No. 2 University of North Georgia softball team has earned the top seed and will host the 2023 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional #1 at Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium at Lynn Cottrell Park on May 11-13.

The Nighthawks claim the top seed in the region for the eighth time in nine seasons and the 12th time overall. UNG will host fourth-seeded Columbus State, fifth-seeded Lincoln Memorial and eighth-seeded King in the four-team double elimination regional. UNG has faced all three teams in their regional this season, defeating King and Lincoln Memorial twice in the regular season and recently winning the Peach Belt Conference championship series over Columbus State.

On the other side of the Southeast Region, second-seeded Wingate will host seventh-seeded Francis Marion, third-seeded Lenoir-Rhyne and sixth-seeded Carson-Newman.

The winners of the two Southeast regionals will meet at the highest remaining seed on May 18-19 for a three-game series for a chance to move on to the NCAA DII National Championships at Frost Stadium at Warner Park in Chattanooga, Tenn.
