(AMERICUS, Ga.) In the Peach Belt Conference opener for the No. 20 University of North Georgia women’s soccer team, the Nighthawks put on a dominant display on the road, taking down the Georgia Southwestern Hurricanes 4-0.

A fast start propelled UNG to their first conference win of the season, as Alex Clark opened the match with a goal in the first minute, assisted by Adleigh Wheeler. A minute and 33 seconds following the 1-0 lead, North Georgia took the lead to 2-0, as Mychael Fruits found the back of the net, taking command oaf the game with a 2-0 lead in just two minutes.

A third and final goal cooled off the Nighthawk attack, as Wheeler put the game in hand, scoring the third goal for UNG at the 38-minute mark and keeping hold of the match throughout. After the scoring cooled off, both sides remained scoreless until the final three minutes, as Darby Olive finished off all hope in the 87th minute, taking a 4-0 victory on the road.

A week off lies between North Georgia and the tenth-ranked team in NCAA Division II, Flagler. The Saints will head to Dahlonega on Saturday (Sept. 23) for a ranked matchup, set for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff at the UNG Soccer Field at Lynn Cottrell Park.
