ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. | The 22nd-ranked University of North Georgia women’s soccer ream battled to a 1-1 draw at Flagler on Saturday afternoon. UNG moves to 5-1-2 on the year with a 3-1-1 mark in the Peach Belt Conference.

Sophia Matonak got the Nighthawks on the board early scoring from inside the box in the box in just the sixth minute, but surprisingly UNG would not be able to find the net for the rest of the day.

Flagler’s equalizer came in the 54-th minute when Charlene Nowotny scored on a through ball from Abby Austin to knot the match at 1-1.

The Nighthawks dominated the first period of overtime spending the vast majority of the 10 minutes in the attacking third firing off five shots but UNG was not able to find the golden goal to walk away victorious.

NOTES
– Today marked just the second time this season that an opponent has held UNG to just one goal, another 1-1 draw at Lenoir-Rhyne.

– The draw is the first in the all-time series that has been dominated by North Georgia, now at 8-0-1.

Hannah Goudy moves to 3-0-1 on decisions in goal for the Nighthawks this season with two saves on the day, thanks in part to another impressive performance by the UNG backline.
