MELBOURNE, Florida | The Truett McConnell cross country teams ran in the Florida Tech Invitational early Saturday morning in Melbourne against a heavily NCAA field. The men finished in eighth out of the 11 non-Division I teams, while the women finished seventh out of the 11 teams.

For the men, Juan Ortega led the way, finishing the 8K run in 27:43, while Tyler Barber finished shortly behind at 27:51. NCAA Division II Saint Leo’s Ronald Cheserik won the men’s individual title with a time of 25:08.

The women’s team was led by Ivie Nobles, who finished 14th out of 119 non-Division I runners, with a time of 19:40. Maddie Reeves finished in 26th with a time of 20:11. The women’s race was won by Saint Leo’s Colett Rampf.

Next up for both the men and the women is the Southern Wesleyan Invitational in two weeks in Central, S.C.
