(Cleveland)- The Cleveland Planning and Zoning Board gave their approval Thursday night to a zoning change application that will enable a Planned Unit Development (PUD) to be built on West Jarrard Street just off the square in Cleveland.
The application by Tom Williams Residential, Inc. was made on behalf of the property owner Stacy Sullens to re-zone 1.2 acres from B-2 Highway Commercial District to the PUD classification. Williams is planning to place 14 small 800-square-foot homes on the property.
Williams said homes will have a steel frame, that will be constructed at a facility in White County and placed on the property to be finished out.
The homes which Williams says are designed for young families or individuals will be priced around $250,000. To prevent the home from being used as short-term rentals buyers will be required to stay in the homes for at least five years or to sell under the same terms.
Following presentations by Cleveland Economic Development and Planning Director Tom O’Bryant and Williams, who both detailed plans for the property, the board voted to approve the zoning change with some variances and conditions.
The application now moves forward to the Cleveland City Council next month who have final approval of the project.
Williams said after the vote, “I’m happy they approved it, I’m happy it got majority votes almost all the votes in some cases, some cases they had some really legitimate concerns and I think those need to be addressed I mean I would feel the same way, but I’m glad they were the majority.”
Williams said they are constructing a porotype of the home they will be building and will have it on display at Freedom Park in Cleveland during Agri-fest at the end of September.
The county’s median household income is $66,000, and some change and $250,000 is considered affordable housing. Good ol’ Bidenomics, it’s working for America…
I know! What the HELL! 800 sq foot home for 250,000! That is F-ed up!
$250,000 for an 800 ft² home? Seems outrageous to me. What’s the lot size?
Lot size is considered to be Zero Lot Line, just a little grass in the front and back. No place for kids to play. I did not see a playground of any sorts. The price is so sad to see $312.00 a sq ft. NO thank you.
