(Updated) -The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch (#211) in effect until Midnight tonight for Northeast Georgia, which includes White. Lumpkin and surrounding counties.

The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded parts of North Georgia to a Level 3 out of 5 Severe Weather Risk. We will see isolated thunderstorms through the afternoon and evening. The main concern will be from a multi-cellular system of storms that will move into our area after 10 pm and through the overnight hours.

Our main threats will be strong straight-line winds, heavy rain, and hail. The tornado parameters also remain well in place. So we cannot rule out a spin-up tornado. Remain weather-aware tonight through tomorrow and stay with Local News Radio 93.9 WRWH for the latest information.

(Cleveland)- White County officials are watching a weather system that could bring severe weather to the area Wednesday night.

Don Strength, White County Public Safety Division Chief says the National Weather Service has advised that isolated strong to severe threats will exist in far north Georgia Wednesday evening, but the primary severe threat will increase from late tonight in north Georgia and shifting southward through the day Thursday.

The weather service reports that a few isolated/scattered thunderstorms are possible in far north Georgia with possible damaging winds up to 60 MPH and hail up to 1 inch in diameter.

In addition, locally heavy rainfall could lead to isolated minor flooding of creeks and small streams, along with nuisance street flooding, especially in poor drainage areas. Officials note that the possibility of a brief tornado is low.
