White County Fire Fighters push new fire truck into Fire Station 2 -White County Public Safety

(Cleveland)- White County officials held a ceremony Thursday morning to mark the start of service for a new piece of firefighting equipment.  The ceremony was held at Fire Station 2, on Duncan Bridge Road for Fire Engine 2.

White County Public Safety held what they called a “ Push-In” ceremony. Public Safety Director David Murphy thanked the citizens of White County for approving a SPLOST tax that was used for funding for this truck and other projects in the county.

The new fire response vehicle adds to White County fire department equipment at the eight stations,  three of which are full-time.

During the ceremony White County Fire Department Chief Mike Lefevre shared with the group that the push-in process dates back to the 17th Century when hand-drawn fire equipment returned from a fire, it was cleaned and had to be pushed back in the fire station, now the ceremony is held to mark the purchase of new fire equipment.
