Asbestos Road at Mauldin Road, dangerous curve improvement

Asbestos Road at Mauldin Road, dangerous curve improvement

(Cleveland)- The nice spring weather has allowed White County to complete some planned road resurfacing work. During Monday’s county commission meeting public works director Terry Palmer advised that two roads Paradise Valley and a portion of Asbestos Road have received resurfacing work.

Palmer said the resurfacing work included improvements to a dangerous curve on Asbestos at Mauldin Road. For both projects Palmer said they still have shoulder improvements to be made before the projects are complete, but they must give the asphalt time to cure before doing that work.

Palmer also advised the commissioners that three gravel roads, Gus Abernathy, Gene Nix and Rabun Roads are slated for paving. He said Gus Abernathy is ready, the other two have prep work that need to be done.

During the meeting the commissioners discussed and listed 17 different gravel road in the county they wanted to look at for possible triple surface or asphalt paving.
